Madagascar's musical heritage is in mourning. Singer Ramy Franck has passed away at the age of 86, leaving behind a musical legacy deeply rooted in the hearts of music lovers across the island. With his passing, a chapter of the golden age of Malagasy song closes, yet his timeless melodies will continue to resonate. Born François de Sales Rakotomanana, the artist left an indelible mark on collective memory during the golden age of Malagasy music in the 1970s. An essential figure of that vibrant scene, he was part of the iconic Mélodie Jazz ensemble. The public will remember his hits etched in time, from the era of 45 rpm records, such as "Bibidia" and "Izany dia izany". But it was primarily through his signature song "Vavaka ho an'i Neny" that Ramy Franck transcended the decades. This poignant work remains today a true source of inspiration for younger artists and continues to be regularly performed by new generations during Mother's Day celebrations. As a final tribute, the wake is currently being held at his home in Cité des Mines, 07 Ambatokaranana. According to the announced schedule, the burial will take place on Wednesday, July 22 at Ambohitsararay Ankadinandriana, following a farewell service to be held at ECAR Notre-Dame de Fatima church.
