Work has officially started on the rehabilitation of RN1 bis, connecting Maintirano to Tsiroanomandidy. The announcement was made by Michaël Randrianirina, president of the Refondation. For this major project, the State has entrusted the mission to the military. The first equipment has already arrived on site and work has begun immediately. Long neglected, this road is vital nonetheless. It constitutes a strategic section for commercial exchanges between the Melaky region and the country's center. During the rainy season, it becomes nearly impassable, blocking the evacuation of agricultural and fishing products to major markets. With this government-backed project, the objective is to improve a key infrastructure to open up the West, develop the region and facilitate the movement of goods and people. The rehabilitation of RN1 bis should reduce transport costs and secure product delivery throughout the year.
