The Korea Story Festival opened this Friday at Cinepax Tana Water Front, initiated by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to mark the 10th anniversary of its opening in Madagascar. Until Sunday, the public is invited to discover free screenings of three emblematic Korean cinema films: Ode to My Father, Tunnel, and I Can Speak, selected to showcase Korean culture, history, and society. The opening ceremony brought together Malagasy and foreign audiences, including representatives from several foreign embassies, the Ministry of Culture and Communication, and Korean Ambassador to Madagascar Park Ji Hyun. The first film screened, Ode to My Father, traces the destiny of a man and his family through the major milestones that led Korea from the ruins of war to industrialization and economic prosperity. "We organized this Korean Film Festival to allow the Malagasy public to discover and better appreciate Korean culture through a selection of representative films," explained Ambassador Park Ji Hyun. She emphasized that Ode to My Father helps understand "the sacrifices and efforts of the Korean people, as well as the profound transformations that enabled the Republic of Korea to become one of the world's leading economic powers today." The 10th anniversary celebrations began with a commemorative concert on July 4. They will continue with the Korea-Madagascar Business Forum 2026, scheduled for November 19-22 at CCI Ivato, alongside the International Business and Entrepreneurship Fair (SIAE 2026). "This forum will strengthen exchanges between the governments, institutions, and businesses of both countries, while promoting investments and new sustainable economic partnerships," the ambassador stated.
