In 2026, the Tily eto Madagasikara scout movement celebrates a significant milestone: 90 years of two educational branches within the movement, namely the Cubs, bringing together boys aged 6 to 11, and the Rovers, for young men aged 17 to 19. The Essence of Scouting Since their creation, these movements have played a fundamental role in the education of young Malagasy people, offering them invaluable values such as solidarity, respect for nature, and a sense of responsibility. Scout education in Madagascar is not limited to learning practical skills, but is part of a process of personal and community development. The Cubs, with their spirit of adventure and discovery, learn to live in harmony with their environment, while the Rovers, older, prepare to become leaders in service to their community. These two groups embody the very essence of Christian scouting: loving God and working for a better world. In a context where socio-economic challenges are numerous and where young people are often faced with difficult choices, scout education presents itself as a beacon of hope. It encourages young people to become agents of change, to contribute to sustainable development, and to engage in civic action. Their presence in the field and their strong involvement during climate disasters, such as cyclones and floods, are perfect examples. The two large simultaneous national camps for Cubs and Rovers, to be held in early August in Moramanga, will be an opportunity to demonstrate, once again, the importance of scout education in training responsible and committed citizens.
