Identical twins, fraternal twins, and triplets from Toliara have been united within an association for the past 10 years. They celebrated their association's anniversary last Saturday at the Toliara Youth Center, led by president Félix Randrianantenaina. "The twins in our association participate in developing civic life by raising awareness among our fellow citizens. We focus on fighting corruption, protecting the environment, health, combating violence, defending the rights of vulnerable people such as those living with disabilities, and promoting peace," explains Lailla Hasiniaina Ravily, one of the association's founders alongside founding president Félix Randrianantenaina, who sadly lost his twin brother. The twins association currently brings together fifty-five girls and women as well as forty-six boys and men. Members include twins and triplets from other districts in the Atsimo-Andrefana region, with some having relocated to work in other regions. "We have babies, children, young people, and parents within our association. The young members are very active, but other members participate according to their abilities and expertise," adds Ravily. Many members believe in the existence of telepathy between twins. "When one is sick, the other doesn't feel well either," testifies Lailla H. Ravily's twin sister. The Toliara twins want to contribute to the country's development. For now, their initiatives remain entirely voluntary.
