The History-Geography Department of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences at the University of Antsiranana reiterates its commitment to transforming the university into an authentic space for civic reflection. In this spirit, it has scheduled a discussion in the conference room on Saturday, July 11 at 8:30 a.m., drawing the attention of master's students to a crucial national issue: "The socio-economic causes of imbalances: federalism or fighting racism, what do Malagasy people truly desire?" What are the desires of Generation Z? In a context where Madagascar is experiencing major socio-economic and political changes, questions related to territorial disparities, socio-economic inequalities, and youth aspirations take on singular importance. Faced with this situation, students and teachers have decided not to remain passive observers. They have invested in intellectual debate, convinced that ideas are the primary driver of transformation. Under the leadership of geographer Dr. Masizara, the meeting fostered engaged participation from master's students. These discussions, sometimes marked by passion but always grounded in solid arguments, allowed for examination of the deep causes of imbalances affecting the nation, while presenting various perspectives on territorial planning, national unity, and the aspirations of the new generation. Despite differences in viewpoints, one truth emerged: the problems Madagascar faces require in-depth studies, a culture of dialogue, and a youth capable of transcending divisions. This effort is in complete alignment with the objective of the History-Geography specialization: to prepare researchers and professionals capable of defending their research methodically, exercising critical judgment, and providing in-depth analyses of modern challenges. The University of Antsiranana, by creating an environment conducive to expression, debate, and contestation, reaffirms its status as a breeding ground for ideas, committed to regional awareness, national interest, and Madagascar's future.
