Traditional Malagasy haircutting, known as didiam-poitra, is a distinctive cultural practice in the country. It can be adapted well to current times and technological developments. This initiative aims to help Malagasy children, according to the "Feno fanantenana" organization. The activity was carried out in partnership with the military academy ACMIL, as part of commemorating the institution's 60th anniversary and the "Raid" operation conducted in the Androy and Anosy regions, which provided free dental care and general health services. The initiative began with blood donations organized by military personnel at the school. Although "Feno fanantenana" is the primary organization behind this large-scale haircut event, its success would not have been possible without the collaboration of ACMIL and numerous volunteers and various partner organizations, according to Rtoa Fanomezantsoa Hasiniaiana, head of the "Feno fanantenana" organization in Madagascar. Founded in 2024, the organization has 79 members representing diverse groups working to assist communities through charitable activities according to their abilities and availability. "Feno fanantenana" is headquartered in Antananarivo but also has branches in Antsirabe and Mahajanga. It is noted that this was the first phase of the initiative, with 60 more children still to receive haircuts in the coming weeks due to delays in parent registrations. In addition to providing free haircuts, assistance such as rice and oil was distributed to struggling families. Rtoa, wife of the innovation representative Colonel Rampanarivo Thierry, was honored for her time and efforts. The event was attended by the regional leader, the prefect of Antsirabe, the ACMIL school commander, and various military and civilian dignitaries.
