Mahajanga is mobilizing its resources as the high tourist season approaches. The municipality and the OMC are taking action to maintain the city's status as a premier destination. Beach resorts are ready to welcome vacationers.

Concerned about kidnappings and the insecurity threatening residents, the OMC (Organe mixte de conception) of Mahajanga, led by the prefect, has reiterated the importance of respecting laws and recommendations.

"Mahajanga is ready to welcome visitors and tourists. The holiday season will be marked by peace and tranquility. Everyone should enjoy this rest period, free from worry and insecurity. We are committed to maintaining security. We urge anyone with information about child abductions or attacks on people with albinism to come forward. Their identity will remain confidential," the prefect stated.

Since yesterday, teams from the regional Public Security and Population and Solidarity departments of Boeny have been conducting awareness campaigns in crowded public areas, both in the city and surrounding areas, in response to the wave of kidnappings.

Meanwhile, Mahajanga municipality has restored order at Petite Plage, Maroala, and Amborovy. The municipality reaffirms its commitment to providing a clean, peaceful, and attractive city for visitors and vacationers.

Cleanliness

New organizations and measures have been implemented in the most frequented public areas, particularly beach resorts. Sanitation of these tourist sites has been prioritized.

Authorities have emphasized cleanliness, general organization, and necessary improvements to provide visitors and residents with a clean, peaceful, and dignified environment. In the city, street vendors and merchandise sales, as well as tables and chairs on public roads, are now prohibited.

"Our goal is to make Mahajanga a clean, peaceful, and pleasant city to live in. Sidewalks are for pedestrians and roads for vehicles. Measures will be applied to those who do not comply," warned the PDS (president of the special delegation) of Mahajanga.

Transport authorities, coordinated by the Mahajanga Land Transport Agency (ATT), have launched the "Accident-Free Holidays" operation. The initiative involves the ATT, national gendarmerie, regional transport directorate, national police, registration center, and technical inspection center of Mahajanga.

Road safety awareness is a key objective of this initiative. Meanwhile, municipal police have begun sweeping operations day and night. A raid was conducted at Mahabibo market to address street encroachment. Vendors on sidewalks and streets have been relocated to authorized areas. Visitor numbers are already increasing in Mahajanga since the weekend.
