A young man, presented as the suspected perpetrator of an attempted burglary, died during the night of Friday, July 10 after being apprehended by members of the fokonolona in Antehiroka. An investigation has been opened to determine the exact circumstances of his death. Around 1 a.m., the Antehiroka gendarmerie outpost was alerted by phone by a woman claiming to be a victim of an attempted burglary at her home located in Ankadivory, in the fokontany of the said rural commune of Antehiroka, Ambohidratrimo district. According to her statement, one of the suspected perpetrators had been subdued by residents before being taken to Ambohijanahary, where he was awaiting the arrival of police. Law enforcement immediately proceeded to the scene. Upon arrival around 1:10 a.m., they discovered a man lying on the roadside, unconscious and unresponsive. He was surrounded by several people who claimed to have apprehended him in Ankadivory. The young man was urgently transported by gendarmes to the Godefroi clinic in Ambohijanahary. Despite this care, the attending physician could only confirm his death. According to initial findings, the victim is a man of approximately twenty years old, wearing black jogging pants, a t-shirt and a gray sweater, and was barefoot. External examination of the body revealed a scrape on the left side of the chin. No identification documents or personal items allowing identification were found. According to those who participated in his apprehension, the young man allegedly suffered a seizure similar to an epileptic episode while being escorted from Ankadivory to Ambohijanahary. The body was transferred to the morgue of CHU Anosiala. The four people who participated in the apprehension were placed in custody as part of the investigation. A requisition was also sent to CHU Anosiala for a forensic medical examination to determine the precise causes and circumstances of death.
