A 33-year-old man was attacked by a crowd yesterday in Anosimasina Itaosy after attempting to abduct an eight-month-old baby. According to witnesses, he approached the mother, snatched the child from her arms, and struck her. A passerby intervened to protect the mother and baby before neighborhood residents gathered and violently assaulted the suspect. Police arrived and took him to the station, injured from the beating he received. The suspect's family claims he suffers from mental health issues and had previously been confined at home. He allegedly broke down the door to escape while his relatives were away. They say they understand the crowd's anger in a context where child abductions cause widespread concern, but believe only police should establish the truth. The first witness recounts that the man bit him and told him he absolutely had to take the child because he needed money. The suspect is now in police custody.
