Aggravated robbery and murder. Four suspects were presented to the prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Moramanga on Wednesday. They admitted to stabbing and shooting the wife of the fokontany chief of Ambohimandroso, a rural commune in Sabotsy Anjiro. They were placed in preventive detention at the central prison in the city. The incident occurred on the night of June 25 around 9 p.m., when fifteen unmasked individuals armed with a homemade rifle attacked two houses belonging to the same family. The victim died at the scene. After killing the mother of the family, the criminals took a flat-screen television, three mobile phones, and a battery, according to a report of the facts. Alerted, the gendarmes, led by the deputy commander of the Moramanga company, intervened immediately and began investigations. When questioned, the four arrested men confessed their involvement. Investigations are continuing to identify and apprehend the other members of the group. The gendarmerie urges anyone with information about suspects to report them in order to end their escape.
