Stakeholders on mission in the Vakinankaratra region. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, supported by the FAO and GSDM, has launched a field evaluation mission concerning the implementation of Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS) to promote organic agriculture. The objective is to assess achievements and challenges faced by producers and cooperatives operating in the Vakinankaratra and Analamanga regions in implementing these local quality assurance systems designed to certify organic agriculture products. Complementary Support The visits highlighted producers' efforts in organic apple, vegetable, and honey sectors, complying with national specifications leading to PGS approval. These initiatives contribute to improving product quality, protecting consumer health, increasing producer income, and sustainably strengthening food sovereignty, it was learned. Exchanges were also organized with cooperatives, farmer organizations, organic market actors, and technical partners to identify necessary complementary support and strengthen coordination among different stakeholders. This approach fully aligns with the ministry's objectives to promote sustainable and environmentally responsible agriculture, ensuring sufficient and lasting food production for the entire population, it was concluded.
