Ten years have passed since the Republic of Korea and Madagascar strengthened their ties with the official opening of the Korean Embassy in the capital. To celebrate this symbolic anniversary by sharing the best of its culture, the Embassy is pleased to announce the 2026 Korean Film Festival, which will take place from July 17-19 at Cinepax Ambodivona. For three days, the capital's audiences will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of "Hallyu" through the lens of cinema. The event offers a carefully curated selection of feature films that highlight the richness, emotion, and boundless creativity of Korean cinema, now recognized on the international stage for its precision and narrative power. The programming of this anniversary edition promises to be particularly eclectic, ranging from historical epics, poignant dramas, gripping thrillers, and touching documentaries. In total, six major films will be screened for the delight of viewers. The public will be moved by Ode to My Father, a sweeping historical and family drama that traverses modern Korean history. In another vein, I Can Speak stands out as a touching and committed dramedy about remembrance and resilience, while The Throne will immerse period narrative enthusiasts in an intense and poignant historical drama about tragic conflicts within the Joseon dynasty. For those seeking thrills, Tunnel offers a gripping and claustrophobic survival thriller that keeps viewers on edge from start to finish. Finally, sensitivity will be present with Stand by Me, a deeply human work exploring intergenerational bonds and family love, complemented by Granny Poetry Club, a tender and inspiring documentary following grandmothers learning to read and write to express their lives through poetry.
