Security concerns: Universities reschedule classes
University FJKM Ravelojaona in Ampandrana is among higher education institutions rescheduling their timetables and releasing students by mid-afternoon. Recent cases of kidnappings, disappearances and murders, which have sparked widespread concern among Antananarivo residents, have prompted university administrators in the capital to adjust class schedules. This allows students and staff to finish their days by mid-afternoon, around 3 or 4 p.m., and avoid late evening commutes. These measures are being well-received as anxiety spreads through the Antananarivo population following recent waves of disappearances and killings.
