An overview of the National Assembly chamber. Just days after the closure of the first ordinary session of the National Assembly, lawmakers are being called to meet again. The Council of Ministers on Tuesday adopted a decree authorizing the lower house to hold an extraordinary session. This decision comes as several bills and legislative proposals could not be examined during the previous session. This new session should allow parliamentarians to continue examining pending texts. Among the files likely to be addressed is the request to impeach Andry Rajoelina before the High Court of Justice. This matter was raised by Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko, president of the National Assembly, during the ordinary session. He indicated that its examination could not yet take place, as the "financial conditions and administrative formalities" necessary had not yet been met. Beyond institutional matters, a bill on cybercrime is also among the texts announced in the Council of Ministers. This text aims to strengthen the current legal framework, as combating offenses committed in cyberspace is an increasingly important issue. The current system is based notably on law no. 2014-006 relating to the fight against cybercrime, which states that "cybercrime designates any illegal act committed by means of a computer system or network or any other related physical network or in connection with an information system." The holding of this extraordinary session will thus allow the National Assembly to resume its legislative work on several pending matters.
