The four church leaders within FFKM. Nearly ten months into the refoundation process, expectations surrounding its implementation are multiplying. The current political situation is prompting certain stakeholders to question the clarity of the approach undertaken. For its part, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) is exerting pressure on the process by calling for reforms that are "clear, accompanied by a precise timeline, transparent, and open to all stakeholders," according to its statement published in June. The regional organization also emphasizes the need for an inclusive process and dialogue involving the various components of Malagasy society.

At the national level, the Ecumenical Council of Christian Churches of Madagascar (FFKM) is called upon to play a major role in preparing the national dialogue. "The FFKM occupies a unique position. More than a mediator, it represents today, for a large part of the population, a moral reference capable of guaranteeing the meaning and credibility of the ongoing process," states Raharinaivo Andrianantoandro, president of Vondrona Ampandrana, in a statement addressed to the leaders of FFKM member churches.

Unclear Contours

Charged with preparing this national dialogue, the FFKM has not yet organized this meeting, which was nonetheless scheduled in the initial refoundation calendar since June. For Vondrona Ampandrana, the contours of the process remain unclear. "To date, the refoundation framework remains vague. No foundational document has yet been formally established to define its orientations, methodology, objectives, and timeline," the movement emphasizes.

Faced with these uncertainties, Vondrona Ampandrana calls on the FFKM to take the initiative by defining a clear framework for national refoundation, mobilizing the country's vital forces, and establishing a transparent timeline. "This is not about slowing down the national process. It is about giving it meaning," it clarifies.
