Yesterday, early afternoon, a woman accused of breaking into a house and attempting to steal a baby nearly fell victim to lynching by an angry mob. Caught by witnesses, she attempted to flee but was apprehended by the Fokonolona before being taken to the Fokontany office, pending the arrival of law enforcement. According to witness accounts, the suspect allegedly feigned madness at the time of her arrest. In the chaos, voices began calling for her to be burned alive. Alerted, a police team from the Mahamasina Public Security commissariat intervened quickly. The woman, the baby, and its mother were transported to the Morals and Child Protection Police at the central Tsaralalàna commissariat. An investigation has been opened to clarify the facts.
