Mahaleo Taranaka, the musical group, marks exactly five years since its formation this year. On August 9, at CCESCA Antanimena, Mahaleo Taranaka will celebrate its 5th anniversary with an exceptional concert. For this evening, they will perform solo on stage, offering the audience a show entirely dedicated to their musical identity and journey.
As its name suggests, Mahaleo Taranaka is composed of children of members from the legendary group Mahaleo: Benaivo (son of Nono), Popoly (son of Bekoto), Rado/Dadou (son of Fafa), Maharo (son of Dama), and Rôrô (son of Charles). Around them gravitate complicit musicians such as Mino Andriamazoto, Kaloy Andriananjasoa, Bibs, Fetra Kely, and Tojo, guitarist.
The group was born on November 7, 2021, in a particular context: to support Dama and Bekoto, the two remaining pillars of Mahaleo, following the passing of Fafah and Dadah. In their grief, they had even considered stopping singing permanently. The Taranaka decided to rise so that the Revy Mahaleo would continue and still inspire dreams, encouraging Dama and Bekoto not to abandon music.
However, Mahaleo Taranaka wants to clarify: they seek neither to replace nor to imitate their parents. Their mission is to extend the spirit of Revy Mahaleo, sharing with fans songs from the past whose soundtracks are difficult to find. Their approach is one of continuity, never substitution.
Today, Mahaleo Taranaka has 35 members spread across the world, some continuing their musical adventure abroad. In France, for example, Dadah's daughter, Ialy, founded her own group, Solfège, and collaborates with Mahaleo Taranaka during their European tours.
The August 9 concert will be a unique moment: for the first time, Mahaleo Taranaka will perform solo on the CCESCA stage, offering the audience a show entirely dedicated to their musical identity. And that's not all: before this grand celebration, they will perform solo in Arivonimamo on July 25, then share the stage with Mahaleo at Revirevy Mody Masoandro at CCI Ivato on July 26.
Their program promises to be a declaration of love for music and family heritage. Their message is clear: Mahaleo Taranaka is not meant to replace Mahaleo, but to continue the story with fans, keeping alive the memory and strength of this musical heritage.
