Sabotsy Namehana: Three suspects killed after armed attack thwarted
An operation conducted by gendarmerie elements from Sabotsy Namehana successfully prevented an armed attack planned against the fokontany of Antsahalava, in the commune of Manandriana (Antananarivo Avaradrano district), on the morning of Saturday, July 4. According to information provided by the gendarmerie, investigators were alerted by reliable intelligence indicating the imminent preparation of a violent attack by a group of criminals. Facing this threat, a significant force was deployed to set up an ambush along the suspects' presumed route. Shortly after the operation began, four individuals on motorcycles arrived at the location. According to the gendarmerie, the suspects opened fire upon spotting the military personnel, who returned fire. The exchange of gunfire resulted in the death of three alleged assailants, while a fourth managed to escape. Following the operation, two pistols were recovered at the scene. The bodies of the three deceased were transferred to the CHU-JRA morgue for standard procedures. The deceased have not yet been formally identified. However, according to the gendarmerie, they are believed to belong to a criminal group known by the nickname "Gôly and Saosisaosy," which is said to be involved in several acts of banditry that have caused insecurity in various sectors, including Antananarivo-ville, Fenoarivo, Mahitsy, and Sabotsy Namehana. These details remain to be confirmed during the ongoing investigation, which also continues to locate the fourth suspect who fled. The intervention was praised by local residents, who expressed their gratitude to law enforcement for preventing an attack that could have had serious consequences.
