"The capital's recovery will be complex. All sectors face difficulties." This is the assessment made by Feno Ralambomanana, President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the Urban Municipality of Antananarivo (CUA), during the presentation of his report on actions taken since taking office last week. Despite the numerous challenges facing the capital, the municipality affirms its commitment to continuing actions around three priorities: transport, markets, and city cleanliness. "These are essential sectors, but there are still other projects to undertake," emphasizes the PDS. According to him, these three axes form the foundation of the capital's recovery policy, even if other issues will need to be addressed.
Regarding markets, the CUA intends to continue reorganization operations at irregularly occupied sites. The intervention at Petite Vitesse, which sparked strong opposition from some traders, has not deterred the municipality's determination. "We will not back down. Operations will continue in other sectors," affirms Feno Ralambomanana. The objective is to restore order in public spaces, improve traffic conditions, and contribute to a cleaner and better-organized city. Despite limited resources, the municipality assures it will continue efforts to strengthen capital management.
The question of morning market sales hours remains under study. The CUA indicates that discussions continue to reconcile traders' needs with market organization requirements. A project is being prepared, but its implementation will require further consultations with the vendors concerned.
The President of the Special Delegation recalls that current measures do not result from new decisions by his administration. "Since my arrival at the CUA, I have not modified any regulations. I simply apply existing provisions," he states.
