The Independent National Electoral Commission (Ceni) is stepping up efforts for a complete overhaul of the voter roll. During a visit to Toliara, the electoral body's president, Thierry Rakotonarivo, unveiled a large-scale deployment strategy based on five clearly defined registration methods. To cast a wide net, Ceni is prioritizing accessibility. Door-to-door census operations will be conducted directly at households, alongside mobilizing agents within fokontany offices for registrations and updates. On the ground, increased collaboration with municipal and district delegates will strengthen this framework. The major innovation lies in deploying mobile teams to high-traffic areas such as bus stations, markets, universities, and free trade zones. In keeping with modernization, digitalization is being integrated into the process: citizens can now register online via the Ceni's official website. The timeline is already set. Operations will begin on July 28. According to the established schedule, the provisional closure of the voter roll will occur on January 9, 2027, before the final closure verdict set for April 25, 2027.
