The eighth Rallye Jovena, counting as the second round of the Madagascar rally championship, concluded yesterday with a second consecutive victory for the Mathieu-Nath duo in their Subaru.
Mathieu Andrianjafy and Nathanaël Young claimed their second consecutive win of the season. The crew, driving a Subaru Impreza, secured overall victory and M12 group honours at the eighth Rallye Jovena. The three-day event, organized by the ASACM club, counted towards the second round of the Madagascar rally championship. The duo, already winners of the inaugural round organized by FMMSAM, completed fourteen special stages totalling 103 km in 01:22:47.7.
"Always pleased to have won," said Matts. "We attacked hard on Saturday and just managed things on the final day. We had no serious mechanical issues."
Frédéric Rabekoto and Andry Tahina Rakotomalala Andrianjafy, fourth in the first round, climbed two positions to second place in their Mitsubishi Evo X Yas at their second rally, winning the N4 group with a gap of 0:43.9.
"We avoided mechanical problems. We're still getting familiar with the car. We're attacking while managing the mechanics at the same time. The level was very high," said Fred.
Another ASACM crew, Olivier Ramiandrisoa and Ny Anjara Rajaonalisoa, in a Mitsubishi Evo X, completed the podium in third place and second in the R4 class (+0:50.8).
"There were no more reliability issues. However, we made navigation errors. We neglected the road book and lost time. Trying to make up the gap, we suffered two punctures. Mathieu was perfect on all these details and didn't give anything away," acknowledged Olivier.
After an early retirement in the first rally, the mixed father-daughter crew Tahina and Fitia Razafinjoelina from ASACM in a Subaru finished fourth overall and second in the M12 group (+05:53.3).
Second in the first rally, Rado and Anja Rabenanahary from MSA in a Subaru finished fifth overall and third in the M12 group. The ASA Tana duo Esteban Marchand and Patrick Rajaonarivelo in a Subaru dropped three places from the first rally to sixth position.
The Freddy-Is crew, at their second outing in the new JMC Grand Avenue, finished eighth overall and first in the T2 group. Hariandry Razakaboana and Jordan Rakotomavo won the M10 group in a Peugeot 104, finishing twelfth overall. Damien and Eddy Razafiarison from FMMSAM in a Peugeot 306 claimed M11 honours. The crew of Tefy Andriambololona and Hasina Rakotoarimanana from MSA, driving a Peugeot 205 Kely Fa Tada, remained unbeaten in the M9 group.
The third and next rally, the Boeny Rally, will take place on August 13, 14, and 15 in Mahajanga.
