The Andravoahangy district continues to be plagued by stagnant water. A recurring rise in water levels has been observed in Andravoahangy, hindering residents' daily lives and complicating pedestrian and vehicle circulation. The daily routine of residents is disrupted, especially after rainfall. Water sometimes rises to knee level, making roads impassable for pedestrians after heavy rains.
"Infrastructure built above drainage channels obstructs the normal flow of water in Andravoahangy. This situation promotes water stagnation in several districts. It is the main cause of the problem here," explains Daniel, an Andravoahangy resident.
The First Vice-President of the Urban Municipality of Antananarivo, accompanied by the General Director of the Municipal Sanitation Company (SMA), the second deputy of the mayor's delegate for Tana III, and several officials, visited Andravoahangy the day before yesterday to assess the persistent water accumulation.
On site, they engaged with residents and local authorities to identify the causes of the problem affecting residents and road users. Temporary measures were implemented. Cleaning and repair work was carried out to reduce the effects of stagnant water.
