Eleven bills and legislative proposals from the Government and deputies were adopted during the first ordinary session of the National Assembly, which closed yesterday at Tsimbazaza. On this occasion, Siteny Andrianasoloniaiko, president of the National Assembly, presented a summary of work conducted over the two-month session. "Deputies worked extensively during this period and many achievements were accomplished within this institution," he declared at the outset, in the presence of Government members.
Among the main texts adopted is the Amended Finance Law (LFR) 2026, designed to adapt the State budget to national priorities and essential needs of the population. It notably provides for the elimination of certain taxes on products such as meat, mosquito nets, and electric vehicles, as well as the adjustment of levies on telecommunications, television, beer, and visa fees. Additional credits are also planned for drinking water supply, as well as for Jirama and the energy sector to reduce power cuts.
According to the president of the Lower House, all these texts are part of the refoundation of the Republic and aim to improve living conditions for the population while promoting the country's development.
