Fireflies founder receives continental distinction honoring twenty years of commitment to African cinema and promotion of Malagasy talent. Filmmaker, founder and CEO of Fireflies, Felana Rajaonarivelo, received the Women in Film & TV (WIFT) Africa Special Recognition Award on July 2 in Lusaka, Zambia, during the Africa Creative Market (ACM) Global and Creative Industry Business Summit (CIBS). Presented at an international conference dedicated to empowerment, representation and development of women in African film and audiovisual sectors, this award recognizes the filmmaker's career path. According to Fireflies, this distinction goes beyond individual recognition and highlights twenty years of collective work devoted to creating powerful narratives, supporting talent, developing international partnerships and promoting African and Malagasy stories on the world stage. This recognition comes weeks after Felana Rajaonarivelo's participation in the Cannes Film Festival Market, where she already represented Madagascar. In Lusaka, she continues this momentum by participating in two major African creative industry events, bringing together filmmakers, producers, photographers, designers, entrepreneurs, investors and continental decision-makers. "The adventure continues" Invited as a VIP Guest Speaker, the filmmaker participates in a panel on women's empowerment in creative industries. She also takes part in professional meetings and B2B sessions with institutional representatives to strengthen collaborations between Madagascar and several African countries, including Zambia, Nigeria and Kenya.
