Passing on Malagasy culture from an early age is the mission of Mon Karné Mag, a youth magazine that places national heritage at the heart of its content. In its 13th issue, released in June, the publication particularly highlights Madagascar's traditional music while continuing its mission to introduce children to the cultural diversity of the Great Island.

Titled "Mozika Malagasy," this new edition dedicates its main feature to four musical styles from different regions of the country: Salegy, Tsapiky, Zafindraony, and Batrelaky. Through accessible texts and illustrations created by Malagasy authors and illustrators, the magazine offers young readers an immersion in cultural expressions that are sometimes little-known.

"We selected four types of Malagasy music that children rarely know about and invited Malagasy illustrators and authors to share their knowledge about these musical styles. Our magazine is published every three months and covers a different theme in each issue. Before this one, for example, we covered road safety rules," explains Ravaka Mihamina from Karné publishing.

Beyond musical discovery, Mon Karné Mag aims to promote Malagasy culture in all its richness through interactive learning. Scannable codes allow children to listen directly to the pieces mentioned in the magazine, facilitating complete immersion in this world. The publication also offers educational sections, creative activities, and craft workshops to learn while having fun.

Available in bilingual versions—Malagasy-French and Malagasy-English—the magazine continues its ambition to bring young generations closer to their cultural heritage and strengthen their knowledge of Malagasy traditions through age-appropriate content.
