The Morals and Child Protection Police (PMPM) in Anosy has reported 65 people held in preventive detention for rape since January. Of the 258 complaints filed, 231 involve minors. Among the suspects, eight have been incarcerated at Anjanamasina Rehabilitation Center, ten placed under judicial supervision, five released on provisional bail, and five cases dismissed. Since the lull observed around castration sentences, which are inscribed in the Penal Code but rarely imposed, police have noted an increase in testimonies and complaint filings. Sexual offenses continue to be systematically prosecuted and alleged perpetrators are brought to justice. The cases also reveal violence committed within families, involving fathers and daughters, siblings, or mothers and sons. Abuse of children under 15 years old is treated as rape. Even when victims do not file complaints, reports reach the PMPM. Awareness campaigns continue to be conducted in the field. Gustave Mparany
