Traffic Disruptions Continue in Antanimena
Traffic in Antanimena is set to face further complications. The Antanimena construction project is expanding. The Urban Municipality of Antananarivo (CUA) has announced the closure of a new road section in the district as part of water pipeline installation works linked to the Integrated Sanitation Program for Antananarivo, Phase 2 (PIAA2). "Vehicle traffic will be disrupted on Ampanjaka Toera Street, from Jovena Station in Antanimena to Croix du Sud Pharmacy," the CUA announced yesterday. This closure is scheduled from Thursday, July 2, 2026 to Saturday, August 8, 2026. "Traffic regulation measures will be continuously implemented by law enforcement on site, and everyone is strongly urged to comply," the CUA noted. The Antanimena project is divided into four phases. "For the ongoing second phase, there is still major work to be completed. The third phase concerns the Jovena - Croix du Sud Pharmacy section," said Oyo Andrianirinaholisoa Razakamahefa, PIAA2 coordinator. The fourth and final phase will involve replacing underground channels between the Pochard Soarano sector and Croix du Sud Pharmacy in Antanimena. To do this, a road will be closed to traffic. However, to limit congestion, this work will not begin until other road sections are reopened.
