Facing electricity supply difficulties in Antsiranana, the government announces rapid measures to improve the situation. A delegation led by the Minister of Energy and Hydrocarbons, Rabearimanga Radonirina Lucas, arrived last Saturday in the city to closely monitor actions on the ground. It included specialized technicians and the deputy general director of Jirama responsible for electricity production, Manda Ny Aina Nomena. Among the solutions adopted is the gradual commissioning of eleven new Jirama generators already shipped to Antsiranana. Five of them are currently operational and provide 4 MW of power. Technical teams are also proceeding with the installation of new transformers. In parallel, collaboration is underway between SECREN and Jirama to develop a site to accommodate additional generators, with the aim of strengthening the national company's autonomy in supplying electricity to the city. The delegation also visited the power plant of private operator ENELEC, the main local supplier. Its production, expected at 18 MW, was limited to 3 MW. The company has committed to carrying out urgent repairs to increase production to 9 MW, then reach 11.2 MW during peak hours.
