Madagascar has taken a decisive step in strengthening its health security. At the national workshop for validation of strategic and operational public health documents and One Health governance, held at the Ibis Hotel in Antananarivo, national authorities and their partners officially closed WHO technical assistance to the Pandemic Preparedness and Basic Health Service Delivery Project (PPSB). This event brought together actors from human, animal, plant, environmental, and civil society sectors around a common objective: building a more resilient and coordinated health system against health threats. The validated documents cover One Health governance, the strategic human resources plan, the national joint action plan, and the antimicrobial resistance collaboration manual. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Health, Dr Ephraim Stéphanson Randrianambinina, emphasized that "health security is a collective responsibility." For his part, WHO representative Prof Laurent Musango recalled that the PPSB illustrates how investment in pandemic preparedness simultaneously strengthens basic health services and population protection. The project closure does not mark the end of efforts, but the opening of a new phase focused on national ownership and sustainability of achievements.
