Since June 22, partial traffic reopening is planned on Mohamed V road at the Police roundabout in Mahamasina. This temporary measure aims to ease congestion while construction work continues under the PIAA2 program (Integrated Sanitation Program for Antananarivo 2). Traffic will be managed for three weeks to allow Antananarivo drivers to adapt to transitional arrangements. According to the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (MEAH), circulation on Mohamed V road will be permitted during daytime hours only, from 4am to 9pm, between June 22 and July 13, 2026. Additionally, traffic will be completely closed from 9pm to 4am to allow construction work to proceed under optimal conditions. The MEAH clarified that the measure specifically concerns the section at the Police roundabout in the 5th district of Mahamasina, a strategic axis connecting Anosy to Air Force headquarters. The objective is to maintain traffic flow while ensuring worker and user safety. However, certain constraints remain. Rakotobe street, located in front of the police station, will remain closed until construction work in the area is fully completed. This is coupled with daily nighttime closures. Users are urged to reorganize their travel arrangements, particularly transporters and night workers. This project is part of a broader initiative to improve urban infrastructure in the capital, aimed at sustainably strengthening traffic and sanitation conditions in Antananarivo. Authorities call for vigilance and strict compliance with temporary signage around the construction site, emphasizing the need to follow safety guidelines to minimize accident risks. Full and normal traffic circulation on Mohamed V road is expected to resume from July 14, 2026.
