A macabre scene was discovered Monday in Ambato, in the Ambohidratrimo district. Five graves were forced open during a single night, showing clear signs of desecration. According to initial findings, two tombs were completely emptied of their remains, with the perpetrators taking the long bones of the deceased. A third vault, recently used for a burial dating back barely a month, did not allow intruders to retrieve the body due to persistent odor. Two other graves located roadside were damaged but not opened. Residents believe the incidents occurred two days ago, with the soil around the vaults already dry. It was passersby who discovered the violated tombs and immediately alerted the affected families and local authorities. Ambato gendarmes promptly launched investigations and implemented security measures. The commune of Ambato announces close cooperation with law enforcement. Local officials assure they are taking responsibility in this matter. Gustave Mparany
