Around thirty photographs chronicle major moments in Russian history. More than three decades of Russian history come to life through approximately thirty photographs on display at the IKM Antsahavola Cultural Centre. Inaugurated this Sunday, the exhibition "85 Years of Sovinformburo" celebrates the 85th anniversary of the creation of the Soviet Information Bureau, founded on June 24, 1941 to disseminate official information from the Soviet Union during World War II.

Organized by representatives of the African Initiative in partnership with Russian media group Rossiya Segodnya, this retrospective is part of the cultural activities of the Russian Federation in Madagascar, aimed at strengthening historical, cultural and human exchanges between the two countries. The opening ceremony was held in the presence of the interim chargé d'affaires of the Russian Federation in Madagascar, Alexeï Buriak, as well as several guests and cultural partners.

The photographs, drawn from the archives of Rossiya Segodnya, which includes notably the RIA Novosti and Sputnik agencies, chronicle several landmark events in Russian history. Visitors can discover photographs of the 1945 Victory Parade, the 1980 Moscow Olympics, as well as other emblematic moments in contemporary Russian history.

For Alexeï Buriak, interim chargé d'affaires of the Russian Federation in Madagascar, this exhibition testifies to both the glorious hours and trials endured by his country. "This exhibition represents the glorious pages of our history, but also the tragic moments our country has experienced. This is what these photographs reflect," he stated.

Beyond its historical interest, this initiative aims to promote better mutual understanding between the Malagasy and Russian peoples. "Today's exhibitions are part of our commitment to promote cultural dialogue through history and strengthen rapprochement between Russia and Madagascar. Better mutual knowledge of our two peoples gradually contributes to expanding areas of cooperation between our two countries," emphasized Anna Zamaraeva, representative of the African Initiative in Moscow.

Through this retrospective, organizers intend to make photography a true bridge between peoples. By revisiting the major stages of Russian history, this exhibition invites visitors to better understand Russia's journey, while opening new perspectives for cultural dialogue and cooperation with Madagascar.
