Candidates registered for the BEPC exam are experiencing an increase of nearly 9% compared to the last two sessions. The Ministry of National Education reported yesterday 327,815 candidates registered for the 2026 session, compared to 299,312 candidates for the 2025 session and 299,130 for 2024.
Projects aimed at reducing parental financial burdens have encouraged parents to enroll their children in school, according to observations from several school directors. "Our enrollment has doubled compared to last year. Students who had dropped out, mainly girls, have even returned to school thanks to the East Africa Girls' Empowerment and Resilience (Eager) project," testifies Clément Hervé Ratokindraiarintsoa, director of the general education college in Ambatolava, Vangaindrano. The Eager program, which Madagascar benefits from, aims to reintegrate out-of-school girls by helping them resume their education and maintain their schooling throughout their academic journey.
Facing this increase, the map of exam centers has been expanded. The Ministry of National Education opened approximately thirty additional centers compared to last year, bringing the total to 1,101 written examination centers, distributed across 9,440 classrooms. Lycée moderne d'Ampefiloha stands out as the largest center for this session: it will accommodate 2,991 candidates alone, distributed across 63 classrooms.
As each year, the majority of candidates, 174,760 people, chose option A, while 153,055 chose option B. This session will see the participation of a 10-year-old candidate and another aged 38. They are the youngest and oldest of the 2026 session.
