The second volume of Tenindreny highlights the role of the mother tongue in education, research and sustainable development. The Malagasy language takes center stage once again in academic discourse with the release of the second volume of Tenindreny, published yesterday as part of the celebration of Malagasy Language Month. Under the theme "Tenin'ny tany: antoky ny fanabeazana mahomby, fototry ny fampandrosoana mateza," the work underscores the importance of Malagasy in the country's education and development.

Coordinated by Daniel Rajoelison and Fanjanirina Sylvie Rakotoalison, this book brings together scientific communications and workshop results organized on February 21, 2025 by Itazoma (Research Center on Malagasy History, Heritage and Societies), in partnership with the University of Antananarivo.

The 209-page work comprises ten articles written by eleven researchers, preceded by a preface from Professor Baholisoa Simone Ralalaoherivony, head of Itazoma. It is structured in two parts: the first devoted to linguistics, while the second addresses literature, discourse and communication.

Beyond linguistic analysis, the book traces the evolution of the Malagasy language through history, particularly successive language policies since the reign of Radama I. It also addresses Malagasy writing on social networks, communication technologies and dialect preservation. The authors emphasize that language is an essential vector of culture and that better knowledge of dialects helps resolve certain questions related to Malagasy orthography.
