An investigation has been opened following the theft of a bell from the FJKM Ambohitraivo Ziona temple, located in the fokontany of Ambatomitsangana, commune of Ampanotokana, in the Ambohidratrimo district. The incident was reported to the Ambohimiadana territorial brigade on June 27 at around 8 a.m. by an individual who discovered the object's disappearance. According to the parish pastor's statement, the theft occurred during the night of June 25-26. However, it was not until June 26 at approximately 4 p.m. that he realized the rope and bell suspended from the bell tower had vanished. Initial investigations conducted by gendarmes revealed tensions within the religious community. According to gathered information, disputes oppose the pastor to certain parishioners, who reportedly announced their intention to file a complaint against him. Investigators also noted that this same bell had previously disappeared before being discreetly returned, a precedent that could guide the investigation. The stolen item is a church bell weighing approximately 30 kg. Immediately alerted, two gendarmes from the Ambohimiadana brigade, led by chief warrant officer Lovasoa and accompanied by first-class gendarme Rakotoarivelo, went to the scene to conduct initial observations and launch searches in the surrounding area. The investigation continues to identify and apprehend the perpetrator or perpetrators of this theft. The church in question is located approximately 7 km west of the Ambohimiadana gendarmerie post, which is handling the case.
