Bongatsara-RN7: Truck Hits Two Pedestrians, One Dead, One Critically Injured
The tragedy occurred on Saturday, June 27, around 11:25 a.m., on National Road No. 7, at kilometer marker 16+100, near the "Resto Gasy" location, in the fokontany of Anjomakely, rural commune of Bongatsara, Antananarivo Atsimondrano district. Two pedestrians walking along the roadside heading toward Antananarivo were violently struck by a Forland truck traveling in the same direction. The impact was extremely violent. One of the pedestrians, a 51-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries. The second victim, a 31-year-old woman, was seriously injured and urgently evacuated to the District Reference Hospital (CHRD) of Bongatsara. Alerted by a witness, gendarmes from the Andoharanofotsy brigade immediately dispatched a team to the scene. Upon arrival, the victims had already been transported to the hospital. Officers from the Bongatsara fixed post and those from the Traffic Accident Brigade (BAC) of Tanjombato were also present to conduct initial investigations. While the truck sustained no apparent damage, blood traces were still visible on the road. According to initial information gathered, the vehicle involved was traveling between Ambatofotsy and Antananarivo at the time of the accident. The exact circumstances of this collision remain to be determined. In accordance with jurisdictional divisions, the Traffic Accident Brigade of Tanjombato is now responsible for continuing the investigation to establish responsibility in this tragedy that has bereaved one family and left another victim between life and death.
