Biosphere Reserves, a model where humans and nature coexist: this was one of the key messages communicated during a panel in Morondava. Raising public awareness about the importance of Biosphere Reserves, which constitute a management model reconciling biodiversity conservation with sustainable development of local communities: this is the objective of a panel organized in Morondava and dedicated to the Tsimembo-Manambolomaty and Analamazaotra-Andasibe Biosphere Reserves, as part of joint celebrations of World Environment Day, International Day for Biological Diversity, and World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. These sites "demonstrate that it is possible to protect ecosystems while improving living conditions for populations through participatory management, valorization of natural resources, and sustainable economic activities," notes the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, organizer of the joint celebrations of the three world days in the capital of Menabe. Indeed, these reserves constitute proof that nature protection and population well-being can go hand in hand to build a sustainable future. This was the main message conveyed during all exchanges between panelists.
