The Peer-to-Peer Learning Workshop is being held at Novotel Ivandry from September 15-18, 2026. Madagascar is among countries recognized as exemplary in implementing the first phase of the REPAIR project (Regional Emergency Preparedness and Access to Inclusive Recovery). This experience is currently being shared with several African and Indian Ocean nations during an international workshop organized in Antananarivo. The Peer-to-Peer Learning Workshop, organized as part of this project, runs from September 15-18, 2026 at Novotel Antananarivo. The meeting brings together delegations from Madagascar, Zambia, Malawi, Burundi, and Seychelles to share experiences on disaster preparedness and financing disaster response. At the official opening, Mbinison Dorette Ratsiavahana, Director General of the Treasury, representing the Ministry of Economy and Finance as the project's focal point, indicated that Madagascar is among the reference countries in implementing this first phase. Foreign delegations are led by Eric Kouévi, Senior Programme Manager of REPAIR. The discussions focus on results achieved by each country, challenges encountered, and best practices that can be replicated. The objective is also to develop a roadmap to further harmonize approaches. The system aims to strengthen the entire disaster management chain, from anticipation and preparation to rapid mobilization of financing in case of disaster. It relies notably on insurance mechanisms based on predefined indicators and financial circuits prepared in advance. The FID, BNGRC, CPGU, and World Bank representatives also participate in the work.
