Thirty Foton buses reinforcing shuttle services to Amoronakona bus station welcomed their first passengers yesterday midday. These buses are offered at a fare of 2,000 ariary per passenger for the journey to the new bus station. Thirty buses have been mobilized to strengthen shuttle services, which serve ten routes in the capital and its immediate surroundings, including Ivato, Itaosy, Alakamisy Ambohidratrimo, Sabotsy Namehana, and Ampitatafika. According to the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology, the Foton buses will operate for a one-month period. Since yesterday, various public transport options available to reach Amoronakona—namely shuttles, Foton buses, and the urban train departing from Soarano, Petite Vitesse side, offering a ticket at 3,000 ariary for the journey to Ambohimamambola with a stop at Amoronakona—have already experienced appreciable ridership rates. These transport means add to the usual urban and suburban taxi-be services already serving the Amoronakona route, but which also deserve reinforcement given rising demand.
