A nighttime attack that could have had more serious consequences. Around 0:20 AM on the night of September 16, five individuals broke into a general store located across from EPP Anjomakely, in the fokontany of the same name, approximately 7 km from the Ambatolampy Tsimahafotsy fixed post (PF), in Ambohidratrimo district. Alerted by a concerned citizen reporting that a shop was being forced open, three gendarmes led by the post commander immediately rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, the attackers had already fled. The 29-year-old shop owner had a back wound and was evacuated to a health center. According to medical information provided to the gendarmes, his condition was not cause for concern.
Shopkeeper's Resistance
According to the victim's account, the five individuals arrived around midnight. Two of them, unmasked and armed with sharp objects, forced the main door before entering the shop. The other three, masked, reportedly remained outside to cover their retreat. Inside, the two attackers encountered the shopkeeper's resistance. A struggle ensued as he shouted for help. During this confrontation, he was wounded in the back by one of the sharp objects wielded by the alleged perpetrators. Faced with the owner's cries and resistance, the five individuals ultimately fled. No goods were taken. However, the shop door was damaged at the lock, which had enabled their entry.
Ongoing Investigation
After providing aid to the wounded man, gendarmes conducted initial investigations and launched searches in the surrounding area. A sweep operation was also conducted, while the Fiakarana PF was alerted to set up a roadblock. The investigation is being conducted by the Ambatolampy Tsimahafotsy PF to identify and locate the five individuals involved in this attempted violent robbery. So far, no arrests have been reported and no deaths have occurred.
