Founded in 2012 by a group of classical music enthusiasts, the vocal ensemble ICanto has reached a new milestone with its interpretation of Bach's Mass in B minor. Under the direction of Fitah Rasendrahasina, ICanto has established itself over the years as one of Madagascar's leading vocal ensembles, built on a constant demand for musical excellence.

Recognized for the quality of its a cappella performances, the ensemble is not limited to this genre alone. Its repertoire extends to major choral works from the Western heritage while incorporating traditional music and other musical styles, demonstrating genuine artistic diversity. This approach was recognized on the international stage in 2022 with the award of a Prize for Musical Excellence from the Spicy Arts Consortium, reflecting the ensemble's growing visibility beyond Madagascar's borders.

The interpretation of Bach's Mass in B minor (BWV 232) represents an important milestone in its journey. Presented at the Saint-Michel Chapel in Amparibe on Friday, June 26, this work brought together an orchestra featuring some of the capital's finest instrumentalists, with the participation of a Mauritian alto and Ravo Raboanarison on first violin.
