Madagascar proposed this name, which ranks 16th on the official list released yesterday by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). The cyclone season opens with system Agueda, a name proposed by Mozambique, followed by Bertrand, assigned by France. Eswatini provided the third name on the list: Celiwe. The 4th depression system to reach cyclone level will bear the name Dira, given by Botswana. There could be cyclones named Emmie, Fikri, Gumbo, Hisna, Isaura, Jeremy, Kanga, Ludzi, Melina, Noah, and Onias. The choice of these names follows a specific process. In the South-West Indian Ocean, name assignment is officially validated by the Tropical Cyclone Committee of Region I, under the auspices of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). These names will be assigned to systems reaching cyclone status from July 1st onwards.
