A family tomb has been found desecrated in Amboniantsinana, in the fokontany of Fihasinana, rural commune of Ankadinandriana, district of Antananarivo Avaradrano, on September 14, 2026. The tomb, located 11 km from the gendarmerie office, was discovered violated when a family arrived to bury a relative. Upon reaching the tomb, family members noticed it had been forced open. The fokontany chief of Fihasinana immediately alerted the commander of the territorial gendarmerie brigade of Ankadinandriana. Two gendarmes went to the scene to conduct initial investigations. The examination, conducted with representatives of the family owning the tomb, the fokontany chief, and community representatives, revealed that remains belonging to several ancestors had disappeared. Two bodies remained in the tomb and appeared untouched. According to initial findings and witness statements, the desecration could date back several days. The isolated and rarely visited location may have delayed discovery of the incident. Following investigations, the tomb was sealed. Gendarmes urged residents to increase surveillance of family tombs and report suspicious activity. The population was invited to collaborate with authorities through patrols and information sharing. The investigation must determine the circumstances of this desecration and attempt to identify those responsible for the alleged theft of remains.
