A new reference tool for the Malagasy language is being prepared. During the closing ceremony of the Malagasy Language Month celebration held yesterday at the General Ramarolahy Barracks in Betongolo, the Ministry of Communication and Culture announced the development of a manual designed to unify the rules of writing and usage of Malagasy.

This project is among the main initiatives undertaken by the ministry. Developed with teacher-researchers and university laboratories, the work will bring together in a single volume spelling rules, writing standards, reference vocabulary, and the main rules for using the Malagasy language. It will be made available to administrations, educational institutions, students, and all users of the language.

The objective is to harmonize the use of Malagasy in administrative documents, official acts, and the educational system, while facilitating its learning and daily use. The ministry also announced the gradual launch of training programs for public administration officials to further promote the use of Malagasy in state services. The National Gendarmerie will be the first institution involved, given its role in serving the population throughout the territory.

This announcement marks a new step in the policy of promoting the national language, following a month of celebrations marked by awareness campaigns, cultural activities, and training organized throughout the country.
