Candidates taking the BEPC exam must now complete the English test in the 2027 session. The exam now has only one option, with option B having been eliminated. This is one of the reforms introduced by the new curriculum. "According to research findings, English is widely used in the professional world and will open doors for students in the job market," explained a source from the Ministry of National Education yesterday. This reform should not significantly change much in 9th grade classes. "English is already taught in this grade during the school year, but it is only the student who makes the choice during exam registration," adds our source. Regional officials have already been informed to clarify this change. Students from public secondary schools are expressing some concern. Many acknowledge having underestimated this subject in previous years, believing it would not appear on the BEPC exam, as in the old curriculum. "Even when trying to progress, the teaching remains too theoretical for us to grasp," lament Onjatiana and Maria, two secondary school students.
