The Miondam-boky ("delving into books") program from Vaovao 24-7, now News 24-7, is making a comeback in video format. The announcement was made yesterday at the Hôtel Les Trois Métis in Antaninandro during the official presentation of the media's relaunch. "This change was made to encourage Malagasy people to read," declared its general director, Johary Ravoajanahary. Many Malagasy have abandoned reading, despite it remaining a valuable source of knowledge. Various books will be featured throughout the program.
News 24-7 officially resumes operations with several shows. Its programming schedule maintains flagship programs such as Solanga, presented by Johary Ravoajanahary, Tranga Miafina, which continues to explore social issues, the health program Salama e!, hosted by Dr Manitra Rakotoarivony, as well as Johary Ravoajanahary's column. A new segment, Aiza 'Zao, completes this offering. It will provide updates on personalities who have left their mark on Madagascar.
Another notable change: some content will now be offered in French to reach a wider audience. "We want to align with journalism standards practiced in major democracies, through affirmed editorial independence and by prioritizing stories with real news value. This is an editorial requirement we want to maintain long-term," he continues.
He adds bluntly: "News 24-7 is not meant to please or displease. A media outlet should not select information based on who it satisfies or disturbs. Our purpose is much simpler: to inform with precision, clarity, and rigor."
