That's what Ikalamavony deputy Pety Rakotoniaina declared in response to accusations from pro-Refondation activists, who treat parliamentarians grouped within the "Vondron'ny Fihavaozan'i Madagasikara" (VFM) as specialists in political flip-flopping. A political practice that, according to young people who participated in the tolona of September 25, 2025, risks tarnishing the image of the Refondation regime. Deputies are particularly under scrutiny. They are accused notably of political mercenaryism. Like the Ikalamavony deputy, known and recognized for having surfed the political wave under successive regimes in the country. Revealed during the Arema period of the 2nd Republic, Pety Rakotoniaina has crossed the ages and, between legal proceedings he faced multiple times, he managed to adapt to all leaders by displaying support for successive regimes. After serving Mamy Ravatomanga and the UPAR platform (Union of Pro-Andry Rajoelina), Pety Rakotoniaina has now become a fervent defender of the Refondation regime as vice-president of the VFM. The case of deputy Rafidimanana Désiré, alias Fidy TMH, national president of the TMH association (Tanora Miandrandra ny Hoavy), considered the armed wing of the former regime, is also causing talk among supporters of the current regime. This parliamentarian was even among the last to show his loyalty to former president Andry Rajoelina, standing by his side during his last field visits to Anosibe and the lower quarters of the capital during periods of tension in September 2025. Today, many are surprised to see him with parliamentarians gathered within the "Vondron'ny Fihavaozan'i Madagasikara". Disappointment. Exactly one year after the current regime came to power, young people who participated in the September 2025 demonstrations express their disappointment. The expected change is far from assured. They wish to bring radical change to political practice in Madagascar. However, the project clashes with the old practice of politicians, which seems to adopt political versatility as its watchword. Being devoid of a political base, the Refondation regime apparently has no choice but to accept alliance with these "Mpamadika palitao" parliamentarians. It will indeed be difficult for those in power to meet the demands of young people to dissolve institutions such as the National Assembly, while these young people have neither electoral experience nor a political base. This is unlike deputies who have, whatever one says, legitimacy having been elected in their respective constituencies. Facing this open war against VFM member politicians, pro-Refondation young activists should still prove themselves to convince both the 5 colonels leading the country, but also a large part of citizens and the electorate in general.
