A two-day student fair held at Vakinankaratra University last weekend marked the institution's first such event since gaining university status two years ago. The university now offers 15 study programs tailored to the region's economic needs. Programs include agriculture and livestock farming, as well as industrial studies for young learners. Technology, literature, and economics are also among the available fields. The initiative aims to guide newly graduated or diploma-holding students toward suitable programs, as many students often make poor choices and waste years or money on unsuitable fields. Vakinankaratra University currently enrolls approximately 3,000 students with 360 teaching staff, comprising 60 permanent lecturers and around 300 part-time instructors. According to Ononamandimby Antsonantenainarivony, the university's rector, pedagogical infrastructure development is progressing steadily. The university represents significant benefits for the region, as young people can now study locally without traveling to Antananarivo, while remaining close to their families and reducing expenses.
