Motorists will need to adopt a new traffic scheme until work is completed at Mahamasina. A new change is underway for motorists in the Mahamasina area. Starting today, September 14, 2026, a new traffic scheme comes into effect due to work being carried out as part of the implementation of the second phase of the Integrated Sanitation Program for Antananarivo (PIAA2). Work currently underway began on September 10, 2026 and is part of the second phase of Operation 2 of this program. These are development works at the Ankadilalana roundabout, opposite the Sports Palace, and at the roundabout in front of the Mahamasina covered gymnasium. A new temporary traffic plan has been put in place to maintain traffic flow in the area. Starting today, the street section from the Ankadilalana junction towards the TOMETAL hotel, then the covered gymnasium, will be open in both directions. Motorists coming from Amparibe heading to Ankadilalana can pass in front of the Sainte Famille Institution school, or via the TOMETAL hotel, then reach the Bazar du Quartier. The parking lot opposite the covered gymnasium will undergo temporary reorganization. As a reminder, traffic around the Antanimbarinandriana area leading to Mahamasina is already experiencing some slowdowns due to traffic being limited to a single lane. Previously, traffic had been completely interrupted for several months, also due to work under the same Integrated Sanitation Program for Antananarivo. A return to normal is expected once the various construction projects at Mahamasina are completed.
